Lively BAHA meeting welcomes CHA members to its presentation ''The Green Decade - What Every Hotel Financial Manager Should Know About Energy Efficiency'
A lively panel presentation by CHA strategic partner BAHA (British Association of Hospitality Accountants), also attended by CHA members on March 29th, on the current hot topic "What every finance manager should know about energy efficiency", provided a wealth of information from industry experts and environmental specialists. Chaired by BAHA founding member Howard Field, the panel included Olivia Quaid, Senior Associate, Environment, Health and Safety from CMS Cameron McKenna LLP; Stephen Richardson, Director, Cushman & Wakefield Hospitality, EMEA; Warren Edwards, General Manager, VDA Interactive TV & Building Control and Tony Slade, Energy Services Director, Evolve Energy Consultants.
Raising the prospect of increased costs and strategic action that could be taken to mitigate, avoid or actually benefit financially from current and soon-to-be-implemented environmental legislation, speakers highlighted what hoteliers need to be doing now and what the future financial and business impact could be if they fail to do so. Members of the audience, many of whom had particular experiences, contributed to a thought-provoking question and answer session afterwards, using their own examples.

West Country CHA Environmental Best Practice Event - Wednesday 18 November 2009
Our first Best Practice Event was held in October at West Lodge Park in Hertfordshire and deemed a success. In November, CHA's nationwide programme of Environmental Best Practice Events moved to the West Country and the independently owned Bedruthan Steps Hotel at Mawgan Porth in Cornwall. Winner of Caterer and Hotelkeeper's Hotel Catey for the 'Green Hotel of the Year' 2008, Bedruthan Steps Hotel was the venue that was always going to inspire, as did a tour of its brand new state-of-the-art sister hotel - the 'eco-chic' Scarlet Hotel. Our grateful thanks to management and staff of both venues for making us so welcome.
